A saga in fifteen squares
Valkyrie Wheelhouse borrows its look from Norse legend: grey wolves, longships cutting through cold water and great curved horns that sound like they could wake half the parish. Everything sits on a tidy five-by-three layout, so it stays easy to follow even when the screen gets busy.
How a spin plays out
Set how many fun credits each spin uses, press the button and let the reels settle. Keep your eyes on the shields. Each one carries a credit value, and they're the game's main way of adding to your pretend pile.
There's a handy little nudge feature too. If only one or two shields appear, the reels can shift up or down by a position hoping to haul extra shields onto the screen. It doesn't always come off, which is half the fun. Think of someone attempting to parallel park on a narrow street in Galway: sometimes it works, sometimes everyone just watches.
Because the grid is fixed at fifteen positions, you can usually tell at a glance how a spin has gone. That makes it a good one to dip into for a few minutes at a time rather than settle in with for the whole evening.
Two bonus games, one wheel
The bonus game comes in two versions, and they don't behave quite the same way. Across the pair you'll meet three tricks:
- Expanding shields. When a shield hits, it can stretch to fill its entire reel.
- The wheel. Land a wheel symbol and a multiplier wheel may open up, spinning to decide how much a result gets boosted.
- Extra spins. Value symbols can hand out three more free spins to keep the round going a while longer.
However dramatic the horns get, everything you collect is still made-up credits. They have no value outside the demo, can't be bought or cashed out, and reset whenever the game reloads.
Playing at a sensible pace
- Pick a stopping time before you start, not halfway through a bonus game.
- Keep autoplay for short stretches, if you use it at all.
- Step away for a few minutes now and then. The wolves will wait.
- Don't play to cheer yourself up after a rough day. It's a game, not a fix.
